I realize that New York Fashion Week ended last Thursday, but I’ve been so completely immersed in other things to take a minute and review what I saw on the runways. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw snippets of the shows I was so fortunate enough to attend through work.

Overall, the shows this season showcased a much more mature approach to dressing. Retro-ladylike skirts and dresses dominated the prettier runways, while tough-girl minimalism was shown at shows like Altuzarra, Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein.

One designer that really stood out to me (besides Jenny Packham OH MY GOODNESS) was London-transplant Negarin. I learned that her designs were inspired by the Northern Lights while her illusion cuts provided flattering silhouettes in cool shades of mint, ivory, silver grey and mocha.

NYFW Wrap Up Part I

NYFW is coming to a close and I’ve been fortunate enough to visit a handful of shows throughout Manhattan. Here are my thoughts on the shows, clothes, scenes, ect from Lincoln Center to Milk Studios to the Metropolitan Pavilion!

Billy Reid:

The bohemian models walked down a dimly lit runway under branches and canopies at Milk Studios. Lots of sheer, simple clothing.

Ruffian:

Set at the Stage at Lincoln Center, Ruffian took inspiration from equestrians and was both vibrant and sporty.

Samantha Pleet:

A unique set up at the Highline Studios partnered with aztec prints, this collection was very much geared toward the downtown audience.

Dean Quinn:

The presentation in Milk Studios was clean with bright corals and mint.

Daryl K:

In a 2-part studio in Greenwich Village, Daryl K models danced and stomped to the beat of drums. P.S. The girl on the left hear was pulling some ballerina moves!

L’uve:

This lesser-known show took place in Union Square and caught me by surprise. I loved all the flesh tones and ruffle/pleating details.
